Suggested

Generated for you and not yet acted on.

Draft

Being written. Where most posts sit longest.

Review

Sent to a reviewer, waiting on a decision.

Approved

Cleared to go out, not yet scheduled or published.

Rejected

A reviewer sent it back. Needs work before it moves on.

Scheduled

Has a time and will publish itself.

Published

Live on LinkedIn.

Cancelled

Pulled deliberately. Kept rather than deleted.

Failed

Publishing was attempted and didn’t work.

The usual path

Suggested or Draft

Either Depost AI proposed it, or you started it.

Review

Only if you’re working with a reviewer. Solo, you skip this entirely.

Approved

Cleared, waiting for a slot.

Scheduled, then Published

A time is set and it goes out on its own.
Nothing forces you through every step. Publishing straight from Draft is normal for one person working alone.

The two that need attention

Failed means a post was meant to go out and didn’t. The usual cause is a LinkedIn connection that expired between scheduling and publishing — reconnect the account under brand settings, then reschedule. Failed posts do not retry on their own.
Rejected is not a dead end. It means a reviewer wants changes. Read their decision note, edit, and send it back for review.

Filtering by status

Status is a filter on the Posts screen and a column on the board. Two that are worth checking regularly:
  • Failed — because nothing else tells you a post didn’t go out
  • Review — because a post sitting there is waiting on a person
