# Set up your account

> From signing up to a confirmed strategy and a running trial — the whole first ten minutes.

Setup is one flow, and it ends somewhere unusual: before you've written anything, Depost AI has
already read your LinkedIn history and drafted a strategy for you to approve or correct.

This page walks the whole thing. If you're already inside the product, skip to
[your first week](/started/first-week).

## 1. Create your account

<Frame>
  <img src="https://statics.depost.ai/docs/started/set-up-create-account.png?v=2" alt="The Create your free account screen with Continue with LinkedIn, Google, Microsoft and X buttons, and a business email field" />
</Frame>

Fastest route is **Continue with LinkedIn**, **Google**, **Microsoft**, or **X** — one
click, no password to set.

By email instead: enter your business email and accept the terms, then you'll get a
**verification code**. Enter that, add your name and a password of at least 8 characters,
and you're in.

<Tip>
  Signing up *with* LinkedIn is not the same as *connecting* your LinkedIn account. That's a
  separate step two along, and it's the one that actually lets Depost AI read your posts and
  publish for you. Using LinkedIn here only saves you a password.
</Tip>

## 2. Add Depost Sync — or skip it

You'll be offered **Depost Sync**, a Chrome extension that keeps your posts and their
performance up to date after setup.

**It's optional and you can skip it.** Setup doesn't depend on it, and nothing later breaks
without it — your analytics simply stop reflecting what you published after today. You can
add it whenever.

<Note>
  **Why this is safe to install.** Depost Sync only reads, and only your own posts and
  stats. It adds nothing to LinkedIn's interface, runs on a schedule rather than
  continuously, and stays well inside normal usage limits. It never posts, comments,
  messages, or visits profiles for you, so it has no effect on your account standing.
</Note>

## 3. Connect your LinkedIn profile

You paste your profile URL. Depost AI doesn't ask for your LinkedIn password.

<Frame>
  <img src="https://statics.depost.ai/docs/started/set-up-connect-linkedin.png?v=2" alt="The Connect your LinkedIn profile step, with a field for your LinkedIn profile URL and a Link my profile button" />
</Frame>

It then reads your profile and your recent published posts, up to your last 40, and shows
you who it found so a wrong match can't quietly become your account.

<Frame>
  <img src="https://statics.depost.ai/docs/started/set-up-is-this-you.png?v=2" alt="The Is this you? confirmation showing the matched LinkedIn profile, with Yes analyze my profile and No use a different profile" />
</Frame>

If it's wrong, **No, use a different profile** sends you back. This read happens once, and
everything in the next step is built from it.

<Note>
  If your profile is new or you've published very little, setup still completes. The report
  says how many posts it worked from, so you can see for yourself whether it had enough to
  go on. Come back to it once you have more history.
</Note>

## 4. Read the analysis before you accept it

This is the step worth slowing down for. It takes about a minute, and it tells you what
it's doing while you wait.

<Frame>
  <img src="https://statics.depost.ai/docs/started/set-up-analysing.png?v=2" alt="The Building your content strategy step, listing scanning your LinkedIn profile, calibrating to your voice, mapping your content pillars, and finding viral posts in your niche" />
</Frame>

What comes back is a full report, starting with what it found on your profile:

<Frame>
  <img src="https://statics.depost.ai/docs/started/set-up-strategy-report.png?v=2" alt="The strategy report header showing profile strength, content strength, followers, engagement rate, and a chart of recent post performance" />
</Frame>

It scores your positioning and each part of your profile, then splits what it found into
**what's working** and **what to improve**:

<Frame>
  <img src="https://statics.depost.ai/docs/started/set-up-strategy-strengths.png?v=2" alt="Two panels side by side, What's working listing narrative hooks and engagement ratios, and What to improve listing zero hashtag usage and heavy reliance on image posts" />
</Frame>

Read the right-hand panel closely. It's the specific, checkable version of "your content
could be better", and it's drawn from your own posts rather than general advice.

Then it turns that into things to do, and things to write:

<Frame>
  <img src="https://statics.depost.ai/docs/started/set-up-strategy-next.png?v=2" alt="What we'd do next listing prioritised recommendations with High and Medium labels, followed by Post ideas to start with, each idea tagged by format and audience" />
</Frame>

**What we'd do next** is prioritised, and each item says why it's there before it says what
to do. **Post ideas to start with** gives you concrete first posts, each tagged with the
format and the audience it's aimed at, so you can hand one straight to chat.

Then it asks you to **Confirm your strategy** — your role, your content language, who you're
writing for, and what you want from LinkedIn.

<Frame>
  <img src="https://statics.depost.ai/docs/started/set-up-strategy-confirm.png?v=2" alt="The Confirm your strategy panel with your role, content language, who you're writing for and what you want from LinkedIn, above a Start your free trial button" />
</Frame>

<Warning>
  Everything Depost AI writes afterwards is aimed at the strategy you confirm here. If the
  audience or the offer is wrong, every draft will be quietly wrong in the same way, and it
  won't look like an error. It'll just read as slightly off. Read it properly.
</Warning>

You're not stuck with it. Ask chat to *"show me my current strategy"* any time, and change
it in conversation. See [your content strategy](/chat/strategy).

## 5. Start your free trial

Pick a plan and add a card. **You pay nothing today.**

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion icon="calendar" title="What the 7 days include">
    **10 AI posts, 5 AI infographics, and 700 AI replies**, so you can properly try
    everything rather than sampling it. All other plan limits apply in full during the
    trial.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion icon="credit-card" title="When you actually get charged">
    Your subscription starts automatically after 7 days, and your full plan limits unlock
    the moment it does. If you'd rather have those limits sooner, you can start it early
    from the billing page.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion icon="circle-x" title="Cancelling">
    Cancel during the trial and you are not charged at all. Cancel after it, and your plan
    stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion icon="user" title="The limits">
    The free trial is available **once per account**, and covers **one** LinkedIn account.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

Plans differ on how much of the workspace you get rather than which features work: the
number of **brands** and **team members**, and your monthly allowance of **posts**,
**replies**, **campaigns**, **lead lists** and **prospects**. Current prices are on the
pricing page in the product — they're the one thing here that changes.

<Tip>
  Running clients? Brands are the axis that matters — one per client. Check the brand count
  before you pick. See [running client work](/workflows/agency).
</Tip>

## What happens next

You land in chat, with a strategy behind every request. [Your first week](/started/first-week)
is the order worth doing things in from here.
