# Your first week

> The setup that makes everything afterwards work, in the order it's worth doing.

Most of the setup happens before you ever reach the app. Signing up walks you through it,
and by the end Depost AI has already read your LinkedIn history and drafted a strategy from it.

Haven't signed up yet? [Set up your account](/started/set-up) walks that part step by step.

## What signing up already did

<Steps>
  <Step title="Offered you Depost Sync">
    A Chrome extension that keeps your posts and stats up to date on its own. **Optional,
    and skippable** — see [why you'd want it](#why-depost-sync-matters-later) below.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connected and synced your LinkedIn profile">
    Depost AI reads your profile and your recent published posts, up to your last 40, then
    asks you to confirm it found the right person. That one read is enough to set the
    account up, with or without the extension.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Built your content strategy from what it found">
    Not a form you fill in. Depost AI reads the history it just synced and comes back with
    your profile and content strength, followers and engagement, a **positioning**, a
    **profile breakdown**, what it would do next, and post ideas to start with — then asks
    you to confirm the strategy.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set you up on a plan">
    Only shown if you don't already have one.
  </Step>
</Steps>

That last-but-one step is the one worth slowing down for. Everything afterwards is written
against the strategy you confirmed there.

## Why Depost Sync matters later

The signup read is a **one-off snapshot**, up to your last 40 posts. It's enough to build
your strategy and your voice, and if you never install anything else, Depost AI still works.

What it can't do is stay current. **Depost Sync** is the extension that keeps your published
posts and their performance up to date after that first read — so analysis reflects what you
published last week, not what you had when you signed up.

<Note>
  **Why this is safe to install.** Depost Sync only reads, and only your own posts and
  stats. It adds nothing to LinkedIn's interface, runs on a schedule rather than
  continuously, and stays well inside normal usage limits. It never posts, comments,
  messages, or visits profiles for you, so it has no effect on your account standing.
</Note>

Depost AI's **engagement extension** is a separate install and a different job: saving posts,
adding prospects, and drafting replies while you read LinkedIn. You don't need it for
analytics, and you don't need Sync for engagement.

## Day one — check what it inferred

Depost AI made decisions about you from your history. They're usually close, and they're
always worth reading before you publish against them.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Read your strategy back">
    Ask chat *"show me my current strategy"*. Correct anything that's wrong — audience,
    goal, and what you offer all steer the writing. See
    [your content strategy](/chat/strategy).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check how you sound">
    Your brand voice was built during onboarding and keeps adapting as you publish. Ask for
    a draft and see whether it reads like you; if it doesn't, say so in chat. See
    [brand voice](/chat/brand-voice).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Publish something (day one or two)

<Steps>
  <Step title="Generate your first ideas">
    Ask for ten, keep two. See [get ideas and angles](/chat/ideas).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create your first post">
    Give it a topic, an audience, and an ending. See [create a post](/chat/create-post).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Publish it">
    Straight from the editor. Review workflows can wait until there's someone to review.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Repurpose it">
    Turn it into a carousel or an infographic. Two formats from one piece of thinking.
    See [repurpose](/chat/repurpose).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Build the habit (rest of the week)

<Steps>
  <Step title="Set your posting windows">
    Fewer slots than you think. See [schedule settings](/calendar/settings).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save a few bookmarks">
    Start the swipe file now so it exists when you need it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create a lead list, add a prospect">
    Even one. It's the difference between a publishing tool and a pipeline.
    See [engagement](/engagement/overview).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write a comment, send a DM">
    Publishing is half of LinkedIn. This is the other half.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## If you're running clients

Do this week as written first — one brand, published end to end. It's the fastest way to
learn what the product does, and every client brand you add afterwards behaves exactly like
this one.

Then read [running client work](/workflows/agency), which covers only what's different:
a brand per client, keeping their voice and reporting apart, and who on your team can see
which. If you're publishing for yourself alone, you can skip workspaces, invites and
reviewers entirely until someone joins.

<Tip>
  The highest-return thing you can do this week is correct the strategy Depost AI inferred.
  Everything it writes is aimed at that — so a wrong audience or a wrong offer is wrong in
  every draft, quietly, until you fix it.
</Tip>
