# Saved items and defaults

> Keep a style, a plan, or an idea so Depost AI reuses it instead of re-deriving it.

Anything Depost AI produces can be kept and reused. That's what stops you re-explaining the
same preferences every week.

## Saving something

With a result in front of you:

* *"Save this"* — keeps it for later
* *"Save this as my default"* — applies it to future work of the same kind

The second reaches further. A saved default for how you like hooks written, or how
a plan should be structured, affects everything afterwards without you asking again.

## Using what's saved

* *"Show me my saved items"* — lists them
* *"Use my saved \[thing]"* — loads it into the current chat
* *"Delete that saved item"* — removes it

## Ideas are separate

Generated ideas are kept apart from other saved items, and reached the same way — by
asking:

* *"Save these ideas"* — keeps them for later
* *"Show me my saved ideas"*
* *"What ideas did I generate before?"* — history, without regenerating
* *"Use the second saved idea"*

That last one is worth knowing: you can look back at ideas from previous sessions rather
than generating fresh ones every time. Generating again spends credits — the allowance your
plan includes for AI work — and tends to circle the same ground anyway.

## What's worth saving

<Tip>
This is the mechanism behind output improving the longer you use Depost AI. Nothing here
happens automatically — a default only exists because you saved it.
