# Longer formats

> Post series, video scripts, and lead magnet outlines — when one post isn't the right size for the idea.

Some ideas are too big for a post and get flattened if you force them into one. These are
the formats for those.

## A post series

When a topic has three or four distinct arguments, a series keeps each one whole instead of
compressing them into a list.

* *"Turn this into a series of four posts"*
* *"Give me a post series on the mistakes founders make hiring their first marketer"*

Say how many you want. Without a number you'll get whatever the material suggests, which
may be more or fewer than you'd planned to publish.

## A video script

Written to be spoken rather than read — shorter sentences, a spoken rhythm, and an opening
built for someone scrolling with the sound off.

* *"Write a short video script about this"*
* *"Turn my last post into a talking-head script"*

## A lead magnet outline

An outline for something you'd give away in exchange for an email — a guide, a checklist, a
framework. Built against your audience and your offer, so it leads somewhere.

* *"Lead magnet outline for early-stage B2B founders"*
* *"Turn this post into a lead magnet"*

Once you have one, ask for **teaser posts** from it. Those are the posts that make people
want the thing, and writing them from the finished outline works better than writing them
first.

## Choosing the size

  <Accordion icon="pencil" title="One post">
    One argument, one story, one takeaway. If you can say it in a sentence, it's a post.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion icon="layers" title="A series">
    Several arguments that each deserve room. Also useful when you want to stay on a theme
    for a week without repeating yourself.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion icon="video" title="A video script">
    Something better shown or told than written — a demo, a story, a strong opinion.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion icon="magnet" title="A lead magnet">
    Something people would trade an email address for. Usually a process, not an idea.
  </Accordion>

<Tip>
  These aren't separate tracks. A lead magnet outline can become teaser posts, a carousel,
  and a video script — all from the one conversation. See
  [repurposing](/chat/repurpose).
